Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Brighton have placed a £50M price tag on Marc Cucurella.
In the last few weeks, the Citizens are believed to be on the lookout for a new left-back this summer, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella has been identified as one of their primary transfer targets.
The former Barcelona man scooped up Brighton’s Player of the year award as a result of his commanding displays (The Argus), although Graham Potter’s side could now be braced to receive plenty of transfer interest.
It was reported recently that the Seagulls hope to hold on to the 23-year-old for at least one more season after landing Cucurella for £15.4 million on a five-year deal last year.
According to Alex Crook via TalkSPORT, Brighton have slapped a £50m pricetag on Marc Cucurella, roughly over three times what they spent to recruit the defender from Getafe last summer.
Alex Crook states that the Seagulls’ valuation of the former Barcelona youngster may seem excessive, but owner Tony Bloom is a notoriously ruthless negotiator.
As per the report, Bloom believes Cucurella is worth just as much as England defender Ben White, who Brighton sold to Arsenal for £50m only last summer.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Move on if that’s accurate. He’s a good looking player but he’s not a £50m footballer right now. Maybe in a year or two but not today..”
