‘No way we’re releasing him’, ‘keep him at all costs’ – Man City fans react to Fabrizio Romano update on Bernardo Silva

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona have held talks with Bernardo Silva‘s agent Jorge Mendes over a proposed switch to Camp Nou this summer.

The 27-year-old’s long-term future at Manchester City is believed to be uncertain, having previously expressed his desire to seek pastures new.

The Portuguese international nearly left the Etihad last year as he eyed a new challenge after four seasons at the club. It was only because of Pep Guardiola that Silva did not leave City in the summer of 2021 but that could change in the upcoming transfer window.

Barca are believed to be one of the top clubs in Europe who have identified the playmaker as a potential target this summer, and journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that they have held a meeting with the player’s agent Mendes.

Romano adds that Silva was the main name mentioned in their discussions and that head coach Xavi is an admirer of the Portugal international.

However, a potential move for Silva to Catalonia is seemingly unlikely at this stage, as Man City value the playmaker at €100m (£85.3m), according to Marca, a figure Barca are unable to afford given their financial predicament.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters.
