Former Manchester City executive Omar Berrada has been appointed as the new CEO of Manchester United, marking a significant move in the football world. Berrada held various roles at Manchester City, including chief football operations officer, before making the switch to Old Trafford in late January. Despite his previous success with Manchester City, Berrada will now be leading their local rivals in boardroom matters.
Berrada’s appointment as Manchester United CEO comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed a 25% takeover of the club and made several key boardroom appointments. Despite being on gardening leave since announcing his departure from Manchester City, Berrada is expected to start his new role imminently and will be gearing up for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils.
Journalist Mike Keegan has reported that Berrada is set to officially start work as Manchester United CEO in mid-July, ahead of the new season in August. Berrada’s departure from Manchester City was met with a statement from the club thanking him for his contributions and wishing him well in his new challenge with their fierce rivals at Old Trafford.
