Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will start formal contacts with Brighton within days to discuss Marc Cucurella.
In the last few weeks, the Citizens are believed to be on the lookout for a new left-back this summer, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella has been identified as one of their primary transfer targets.
The former Barcelona man scooped up Brighton’s Player of the year award as a result of his commanding displays (The Argus), although Graham Potter’s side could now be braced to receive plenty of transfer interest.
Cucurella only joined the Seagulls last summer from Getafe for around £15.4m, but he has previously admitted that he would find it difficult to turn down a move to the Etihad Stadium.
The 23-year-old has a contract with Brighton until 2026 and will expect top dollar for their star performer, with reports suggesting this could be as much as £50 million, more than triple the price he was bought for a year ago.
According to the latest information from Pol Ballus via The Athletic, the recently-crowned Premier League champions are now set to ‘start formal contacts’ with Brighton in the next few days to discuss a deal for the defender.
Pol Ballus states Brighton will want a big fee close to what they got for Ben White last summer, but if they were really to demand a £50M-plus deal, Man City will walk away.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
