Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Everton are now ‘keen’ on signing Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer.
Zinchenko has been on Manchester City’s books since July 2016. After a loan spell at PSV in 2016-17, he has become an important player for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
The Ukrainian has proven his ability to play as a left-back, left midfielder or central midfielder. Due to this, he is often relied on by Guardiola when other players pick up injuries.
Zinchenko featured 28 times last season as Manchester City won the Premier League title by a point and reached the Champions League semis, where they lost to eventual winners Real Madrid.
The Ukrainian has been heavily linked with a move away from the Premier League champions this summer, with the likes of West Ham United, Arsenal and Barcelona all being interested.
City are said to be open to selling to the 25-year-old as they pursue a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion’s left-back Marc Cucurella, whilst Zinchenko himself is said to be open to the idea of ending his five-year stay with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Previous reports have put Newcastle, Arsenal and West Ham on Zinchenko’s trail. Everton have joined the race to sign the versatile Ukraine international according to The Athletic, who are reporting that Zinchenko is one of the players that City could sell this summer in order to free up funds.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Man City should tie Zinchenko to One Year contract. The guy is a versatile player. He is more of a Midfield player than playing at LB. We gonna have loads of tight fixtures to play. What if Cucurella and Cancelo got injured? It happened where Stones, Walker, Dias got injured 😢”

“Zinchenko’s consistency and versatile to the squad goes a long way, his spell towards the end of last season was as good as you can get from a backup player. We should keep him.”

“Buying Haaland, Alvarez, prob Cucurella and Philips and letting go Zichenko, Bernado, Gundogan, Jesus is one step forward and two steps backward. We need to think this strategically. Zichenko and Cucurella could play LB and Cancelo and Walker RB”
