‘Doesn’t matter’, ‘lets not rush him’, ‘Stones masterclass incoming’ – Man City fans react to injury update ahead of Derby

Manchester City supporters have been reacting to reports that the club is sweating on the fitness of star defender Ruben Dias ahead of Sunday’s derby.

Pep Guardiola revealed he had to replace Dias due to injury in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Peterborough United.

The Spaniard said the centre-back had only been taken off as a precaution after feeling something in his leg. If he is able to shake that off, he will be in strong contention to start.

The concern for Guardiola and his coaching staff is whether Dias will recovered in time for Sunday’s Manchester derby.

According to Jack Gaughan for Daily Mail, the 24-year-old is undergoing tests and City are awaiting those results before they can ascertain the severity of the problem.

The Portuguese star has started all but three of City’s Premier League games this term and his absence against Manchester United would be a blow to the champions.

After City Xtra shared this update on Twitter, plenty of their supporters reacted to the news on the social media platform.

Stones-Laporte masterclass incoming

If Dias cannot make Sunday’s clash with Manchester United, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte will be the go-to pair.

Both have conceded just one goal in five matches together all season; a further three matches where Stones has played at right-back have all seen clean sheets too. Suffice to say all eight matches have been City wins.
