Martin Keown has ranked a player Manchester City sold in 2021 above Luis Suarez for his performances in the Premier League. Suarez, known for his time at Liverpool, was a top striker in the league, scoring 31 goals and 17 assists in the 2013/2014 season. However, Keown placed a player City sold above Suarez, comparing his performance to that of Erling Haaland, who has been prolific in recent seasons.
Keown ranked Sergio Aguero above Suarez in terms of Premier League strikers, placing Suarez in the ‘B’ tier while placing Aguero in the ‘A’ tier. Aguero, who spent a decade at Manchester City and won five league titles, was considered a better Premier League striker due to his longevity in the league compared to Suarez. Despite Suarez’s legendary career at Barcelona, Aguero’s consistency in England led to Keown rating him higher.
While Suarez had a remarkable spell in the Premier League from 2011 to 2014, Aguero’s decade-long success at Manchester City ultimately led Keown to rate his career in the league more highly. Aguero’s role in City’s title triumphs and his consistency as a top striker in England earned him the recognition of being better than Suarez in the eyes of Keown. Despite their different styles, both players are considered elite goalscorers in the Premier League.
