Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Liam Delap is set to join Stoke City on a season-long loan.
The Manchester City youngster has been linked with a loan move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The teenage striker was instrumental in City winning the U-23 league last season, scoring 24 goals and assisted 5 in a sensational year for the youngster.
Delap, who is one of City’s most exciting youth prospects, has been promised a place in Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad next season after scoring a record 24 goals in Premier League 2 – and is a genuinely exciting prospect.
However, there has been plenty of speculation that the 18-year-old strike could go out on loan this season in order to gain some vital experience, with Stoke one of a long list of Championship clubs interested in securing the talents of the highly-rated striker this month.
According to Journalist Subhayan Chakraborty as relayed by City Xtra, it appears as though Liam Delap is close to joining Championship side Stoke City on a season-long loan deal.
As per the report, ‘The Secret Scout‘ on Twitter also revealed that a source close to Manchester City has admitted, “It’s time for him [Liam Delap] to go and play in the Championship.”
Delap isn’t expected to make waves in the first-team this season especially as City continue to pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane this summer, so the Premier League champions will loan him out to a side that can offer him regular playing time.
Delap has been consistently prolific at youth level and should thrive at getting competitive football, so this could be a big season for him.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have been sharing their thoughts and opinions.
Interesting. Wanted him to stay but he’ll get more gametime at Stoke

Very rare Pep lets a player go on loan who he feels has a city future. Pity looked a good player.

Don’t know about this one tbh…we might regret it tbf I’d rather him go on loan to a premier league team or just be promoted to the Senior team and integrate him to the team hierarchy foden style

I agree, the championship is a great league to develop a talent of his caliber. Idk why everyone’s so disappointed in the move.

Fantastic. He will destroy Championship next season and rejoin the first team season after. I hope Palmer will stay though for next season.

Good move for him imo, would hardly get game time next season and he’ll get a proper taste of men’s football
