Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report which claims talks have opened between the club and Benfica for Álex Grimaldo.
While there are several areas of the field where City could upgrade in, one that you’d have to consider a priority is at left-back.
The full-back spot in particular remains an issue throughout Pep Guardiola’s time at the club, with Benjamin Mendy failing to push his game on.
The French international has had his fair share of troubles with recurrent injuries coupled with poor form and is starting to turn into a liability for Pep Guardiola.
The use of Zinchenko and the recent form of Joao Cancelo may have provided yet another short-term solution, but a competent true left-back is needed at the club.
According to Pedro Almeida, talks have opened between Manchester City and Benfica for Álex Grimaldo, with Portuguese club wanting €30M for the left-back.

It remains to be seen what City do in the summer, but it’s clear they need a new left back with neither Benjamin Mendy or Oleksandr Zinchenko completely convincing in recent seasons.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

Great signing that

This is the more likely move. And he’s the typical Pep kind of full back. Also, the price is way more reasonable than that of the other options.

You can’t compare Mendy and Grimaldo. This guy is far more clever than Mendy. We don’t have any left back better than him.

He’s good but zinchenko deserves his place and Mendy is looking like he’s gonna have a Stones comeback

The former Barcelona youth starlet has enjoyed a productive Primeira Liga season with the Portuguese giants, racking up two goals and ten assists from 31 top-flight appearances.
Grimaldo has been a staple of Benfica’s setup for the past five seasons, but despite having a contract with the club until 2023, his future in Portugal has been called into question.
Joao Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy have rotated in and out of the side this term – although the latter has been linked with a move away – and Grimaldo moving to the Etihad would see him link up with former Benfica teammate Ruben Dias.
With City reportedly having opened talks over signing him, this one could prove pretty quickly, if the information proves to be true.
