Virgil van Dijk is going to be out for a long time through injury, destined for knee surgery after ligament damage suffered at the foot of Merseyside rival Jordan Pickford on Saturday.
It was confirmed ye sterday the centre-back had sustained ACL ligament damage and would face the prospect of missing a significant chunk of the campaign.
Laporte, who himself missed a large chunk of last season with a knee injury, put the rivalry between both clubs aside to wish the Dutchman well.
“Sorry bro. Best of luck for the quick recovery, never neither fun nor rejoicing even as rivals,” he wrote on Twitter.

Rivalry aside, speedy recovery to the big man. Always classy on and off the pitch. Massive blow for LFC but that’s just how cruel football is sometimes. Gotta be able to deal with it which I’m sure that team still can.
