The Etihad Stadium in Manchester is undergoing significant construction around its North Stand, with plans for further improvements to make it one of the finest stadiums in the global game. The stadium, home to Manchester City’s Treble-winning side, has already seen extensive redevelopment since its initial construction for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
The expansion of the South Stand has increased the stadium’s capacity to 53,400 supporters, with plans to further increase capacity to over 60,000. The North Stand expansion includes a fan-dedicated area, a new megastore, a 400-bed hotel, a stadium roof walk, and a ‘sky bar’, with the goal of attracting more tourism to the east Manchester area.
The Etihad Stadium has been chosen as one of the host stadiums for UEFA EURO 2028, showcasing the exciting future of Manchester City’s proud home. The construction projects at the Etihad Stadium may also inspire other football clubs, like Manchester United, to consider redeveloping their own facilities to compete with the impressive infrastructure being built by their neighbors.
