Manchester City, the Premier League champions, are reportedly taking action against ticket touts operating around their Etihad Stadium for home matches.
This crackdown comes as Manchester City is experiencing a surge in demand for match tickets due to the success of manager Pep Guardiola and the team last season.
Last season, City secured the Premier League title against Arsenal, won the FA Cup final against Manchester United, and triumphed in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter in Istanbul.
Supporters from all over the world are eager to watch Pep Guardiola’s star-studded squad, which includes players like Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, in action.
Manchester City has recognized the issue of inflated ticket prices at the Etihad Stadium and is addressing it by hiring new staff members.
According to Jack Gaughan’s latest MailSport Man City Notebook, City has hired a ticket compliance manager to investigate ticket resale misuse and clamp down on ticket touts.
One common issue identified at the Etihad Stadium is touts buying junior tickets and reselling them as adult seats, leading to stricter checks at the turnstiles.
MailSport’s report highlights the upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal, with tickets already listed at high prices on various websites.
Manchester City faces Arsenal at the end of March, with the winner potentially moving to the top of the Premier League table for a crucial April fixture list.
In addition to league matches against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, City is also preparing for UEFA Champions League quarter-final matches against Real Madrid and an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
Due to cup competition progress, two of City’s matches have been postponed and will need to be rescheduled, including away trips to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur.
