Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are set to face European giants AC Milan and Barcelona in the USA as part of preparations for the 2024/25 campaign.

The treble-winners are expected to return to the United States this summer as part of preparations for the 2024/25 campaign, with the club returning to America for the first time since the 2022/23 season.

The USA is set to become a regular destination for the Sky Blues over the next year, with Manchester City competing in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in America in 2025 – potentially Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne’s final tournament for the club.

The pair are currently out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, although were both part of the 2017 pre-season tour of the US, which took place prior to Manchester City winning their first of five Premier League titles under Guardiola.

City travelled to Asia last summer, with the first-team taking part in friendly fixtures in South Korea and Japan, taking on Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, as well as fellow City Group outfit Yokohama F. Marinos.

The Blues are set to face a similar pedigree of European opponents this summer, with fixtures against AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea all in the pipeline.

Two of those three fixtures have been confirmed by the New York Post, who have revealed that Manchester City will face AC Milan and Barcelona as part of ‘Soccer Champions Tour’ 2024.

City will face Serie A outfit AC Milan at New York’s Yankee Stadium on Saturday 27th July, before travelling to Orlando to meet La Liga giants Barcelona between July 27th and August 6th.

A statement by the tournament organisers said: “Soccer Champions Tour is thrilled to return this summer with enticing match-ups featuring some of the world’s most storied clubs for fans in the U.S. to witness the beautiful game at the highest level.”

The tournament will involve Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea, with Guardiola’s side set to face both Real Madrid and Chelsea before the close of the current campaign.

City were drawn against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals last week, and will also face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals next month.

Manchester City have played Chelsea twice in the Premier League this season and have failed to win on both occasions, drawing 4-4 at Stamford Bridge and 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Barcelona and City have been involved in friendlies recently, with Guardiola’s squad travelling to the Camp Nou for a charity fixture in August 2022.
