Serie B midfielder and Libyan international Ahmad Benali has expressed his desire to become part of Manchester City’s first-team coaching staff in the future.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has had various changes in his coaching staff at the Etihad Stadium, with former players like Mikel Arteta and Enzo Maresca joining in the past.

Guardiola and Arteta will face off in the Premier League on Sunday, as Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool are involved in a close title race with just one point separating them.

Former Manchester City first-team coach Maresca may also be in competition with Guardiola next season, as Leicester City aims for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Vincent Kompany, who played under Guardiola and famously scored a crucial goal against Leicester in 2019, is currently managing Burnley.

Guardiola has had a significant impact on several managerial careers, with Frank Lampard revealing that he received advice from the Catalan.

Manchester-born midfielder Ahmad Benali, who supports Manchester City, has shared his ambition to work with Guardiola at the club once he transitions from playing to coaching.

Benali, currently playing for Serie B side Bari, has had stints at various Italian clubs and was born in Manchester before moving to Italy to pursue his career.

In an interview with Radio Bari, Sport Witness relayed quotes from Benali expressing his desire to return to his boyhood club, Manchester City, in a coaching role.

“I have always played outside of the UK, it was a great experience, but the goal for the future remains to represent the team of my city,” Benali stated.
