Erling Haaland issues perfect response to critics after that Manchester United missed chance

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland recently spoke out about his missed chance against Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend.

During the derby clash, Haaland missed a crucial opportunity to equalize for Manchester City at the end of the first half, surprisingly putting the ball wide from close range.

Despite this, he later scored his sixth goal against Manchester City’s local rivals, securing a 3-1 victory with a goal in second-half added time.

Prior to Haaland’s goal, Phil Foden had also scored for Manchester City, leading to a turnaround after Marcus Rashford had initially put Manchester United ahead.

This marked the second successive derby where both Foden and Haaland found the back of the net, as they had both scored hat-tricks in a previous match.

Haaland, who recently scored five goals against Luton Town in the Emirates FA Cup, has now scored 28 goals in 31 appearances for City this season. Despite missing 11 matches due to injury, the 23-year-old currently leads the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

With a record-breaking 52 goals in 53 appearances last season, Haaland has faced criticism lately for missing chances but remains focused on improvement.

Looking ahead to the Champions League last-16 second-leg clash with FC Copenhagen, Haaland acknowledged the need to work on his finishing.

People say I’m good at scoring goals but I missed the biggest chance in the world ever so I can get better at that,” said the Norwegian.

“I’ve missed a lot of chances, I’ll keep missing chances, and I’ll keep scoring goals. I’ll probably miss a big chance in future, people will criticise me. Should I keep thinking about it? No.”
