Netflix has officially announced the release date for Manchester City’s behind-the-scenes documentary covering their historic Treble-winning season of 2022/23. The documentary follows Pep Guardiola and his players as they became only the second English side to win the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League in a single season.
The club’s in-house media department documented every moment behind-the-scenes, and Netflix has now acquired the rights to release the production globally. It is understood that Netflix paid a seven-figure sum to Manchester City for the footage, with both parties collaborating on the lengthy editing process since last summer.
The six-part documentary series, titled ‘Together: Treble Winners,’ will be released on April 2. An official trailer is expected to be released soon. This documentary has been eagerly awaited by supporters of the club and the wider football community.
‘Together: Treble Winners’ will be the second Manchester City-focused documentary to be streamed globally, following Amazon Prime’s coverage of the 2017/18 season. Manchester City is also the first Premier League side to feature on Netflix, showcasing the club’s global appeal and growth in the game.
The sale of footage to Netflix is a major achievement for Manchester City and their production team. This new documentary adds to the club’s global presence and highlights their success on and off the pitch. Netflix has had success in producing sports documentaries in various genres, and adding a Premier League club to their lineup further solidifies their reputation as a leading streaming platform for sports content.
