Manchester City’s Ruben Dias is calling for more attention to be given to him and his teammates in order to make their feeling of inevitable success even ‘bigger’ when it comes around.
The Portugal international has been a key player in defense for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side since joining the club during the 2021/22 season from SL Benfica. With a number of major honors under his belt, including multiple Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League honor, Dias understands what it takes to win big, but believes that the work must continue to keep developing City’s position in the game.
As the talk around the club from rival supporters continues to grow and applies more pressure on players to deliver, Manchester City’s vice-captain embraces this pressure with confidence.
According to comments from Dias, he has embraced the pressures of the talk around Manchester City and their need for success, calling for even more talk to make their end-of-season successes even sweeter.
Dias expressed his attitude towards the talk, stating, “I don’t really engage with a lot of the talk that goes around during the season because, in the end, football is football and it’s not about how it starts it’s about how it ends. I think one way or another you hear a little bit because it’s impossible not to, especially these days…Please make noise around us because it will just make it bigger every time we win again. That’s purely how I take it.”
Manchester City currently find themselves competing on three fronts, with Premier League battles, an upcoming FA Cup fifth round tie, and a trip to Denmark for the round of 16 tie. The return of their first-team squad to full fitness has been a boost for Ruben Dias and Manchester City as a whole, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, John Stones, and Jeremy Doku all back in action.
