Manchester City striker Erling Haaland shared his future plans at Man City, expressing his desire to continue working with Pep Guardiola for more years.

The Norwegian striker joined the Premier League champions in the summer of 2022 and had an exceptional debut season. His contributions to Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning side set records in both the League and European competitions.

Haaland clinched the English top-flight Golden Boot last season and remains in contention for the same accolade this campaign, despite struggling to replicate his previous form. With 21 league goals this season, he leads by a goal over the second-place goalscorer, Cole Palmer.

He scored his 21st goal against Nottingham Forest after coming on for Jack Grealish in the 62nd minute. The former Borussia Dortmund forward secured a 2-0 victory as the home team intensified their attack on the Sky Blues.

After the match, Haaland expressed his admiration for Pep Guardiola’s influence, stating his readiness to work with the esteemed manager for years to come. In an interview with Manchester Evening News, he said, “He’s done great things [for me], he’s a truly special one. I enjoy working with him and hopefully will for some more years.”

Manchester City has five remaining fixtures in the current season, including four in the English Premier League and the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester United. The outcomes of these matches will determine the level of success achieved in their campaign.

According to Erling Haaland, these upcoming matches are crucial for the Cityzens to secure victories. He emphasized the significant roles both he and his teammates will play in determining the season’s final battles, irrespective of individual scoring.

“We need every single player now,” Haaland emphasized. “From the bench, people who start, everyone. There’s five more finals left [including the FA Cup final]. Focus on the next one. It’s about winning now. It doesn’t matter who scores and who doesn’t.”

Pep Guardiola Happy To Have Erling Haaland Back From Injury

Manchester City were without their top striker in the previous two matches. Haaland missed the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea due to an injury sustained during the UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid.

Despite their European exit, Manchester City secured a narrow victory against Chelsea following Haaland’s absence. His return for the match against Nottingham Forest was welcomed by Pep Guardiola, who expressed his satisfaction at having the striker back in the lineup.

“It is important that he is back and doing what he does,” Guardiola noted. “Kevin [De Bruyne] found him and it was a really good finish. He was not ready for 90 minutes but it was good for him to be back.”
