Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Juventus deem €30 million price tag for Aymeric Laporte as too high.
The 29-year-old has found himself on the fringes of Manchester City’s central defensive options following the most recent season, with manager Pep Guardiola placing his teammates ahead of him in his ranking.
Manuel Akanji has proven to be a reliable option in all areas of Manchester City’s back-four, after signing from Borussia Dortmund last summer, while John Stones has developed into a commanding presence in both defence and midfield.
City have identified Josko Gvardiol as their main focus after signing Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, and the arrival of the defender from RB Leipzig would only restrict Laporte’s minutes further.
And as such, Sky Sports Italia (via Tutto Juve) reports that Juventus has recently been linked with a potential move for Laporte, as Manchester City considers offloading the defender.
Manchester City is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of 30 million euros to part ways with the Spanish defender meaning they would recoup a little less than half of the £57million they spent on him five years ago.
However, according to Tuttojuve, this price tag is deemed too high for Juventus, potentially leading the club to withdraw from the pursuit of Laporte’s signature.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@KemzFitness: “£30m too high? Laporte walks into most teams & is a top centre half. 30m is way too low.”
@hundredmillie: “Can’t believe anyone thinks 30m euros is too much, he’d be a top defender in Serie A for next 5 yrs.”
@jgedeon1717: “Disrespectful.”
@LifeOfNapaul: “30M for Laporte is a steal”
@StxnesEra: “That’s literally a bargain price….”
@adamraby1: “£30m is a bargain for Laporte!”
@khxnxs02: “€30m for Laporte is an absolute steal”
@CharanGavara: “Thank you, we’ll keep him with us! He’s worth atleast 45M Man City”
