Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims City Football Group’s New York City FC are trying to sign Neymar.
The 31-year-old has spent the last six seasons with the French giants, recording 118 goals and 77 assists in 173 appearances across all competitions, and has also won 12 trophies including four Ligue 1 titles.
Neymar has enjoyed a productive spell in front of goal this campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing 17 assists in 29 matches, before sustaining a season-ending ankle injury in February.
Despite success in Ligue 1 for PSG and Neymar over the past six years, the club have been unable to achieve an elusive Champions League title – an inability which has sparked anger from supporters directed at the team’s star players.
The Brazil international is under contract at the Parc des Princes until June 2025 and recent report claims that he is planning to hang up his boots at the Parisian outfit.
Neymar has been linked with a move away from the French outfit this summer amid interest from a number of top European clubs including Premier League trio Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Amidst the uncertainty, Manchester City owners the City Football Group have reportedly made an audacious attempt to bring Neymar to New York City FC in the MLS.
According to the Secret Scout City Football Group’s New York City are trying to sign the forward, with a deal having been offered to the 31 year-old.
No decision has been made yet according to the outlet, with PSG having this week announced the appointment of former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique as their new head coach.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
