Manchester City are pushing hard to finalise a deal for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, according to latest reports.
After signing Mateo Kovacic to at least fill the hole left behind by departed captain Ilkay Gundogan, City have now made Josko Gvardiol their top priority.
RB Leipzig want £85m for the Croatian star plus additional performance-related payments. City are not yet ready to meet that steep valuation but talks are advanced and all parties still expect a deal can be done.
According to Journalist Graeme Bailey via 90min_Football, Man City feel a deal for Josko Gvardiol is close, but the overall structure of payments to RB Leipzig still needs to be ironed out.
As per the Journalist, there is an expectation from all parties that a deal will be completed before Man City travel to Asia for pre-season.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@rmzMCFC: “This is taking too long”
@xlucosaurrr: “Just get it done.”
@iam_blessed7: “Get it done Txiki”
@aliiiwest: “Get it over with already!.”
@SudiptaDash49: “Why so slow in transfer activities! Get him quickly, so that Pep can train him.”
@alexioevans: “I understand negotiations when there’s a bidding war but this isn’t. I think leipzig has been pretty clear on what they want, and they are kinda been forced to not sell him and wait 1 more year for him to be even more expensive.”
@Daviesbrn: “Why has it taking soo long to get this done when we’re gonna bend over backwards to pay what Leipzig want anyways”
@KanecantDribble: “Txiki needs to be questioned if he doesn’t get this over the line.”
