Pep Guardiola has said that Erling Haaland should be available for Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Leeds United despite a lingering foot injury.
Haaland suffered damaged ligaments in his foot during a UEFA Champions League group stage game with former club Borussia Dortmund, and has been nursing the issue ever since.
Speaking to the press ahead of this Wednesday’s game against Leeds at Elland Road, Guardiola said that he believes Haaland is fit enough to play: “I think he will be ready. Day by day he’s getting better. As much, he can train, he will get his condition. The injury is completely different to last season.
“It was a knock in his feet in Dortmund when we played Champions League. The doctor says his damage his ligament in his feet is so painful, it’s not easy to recover. That’s why he struggled.
“But muscular issues and everything is perfect and now he is much, much, much better. Now it’s a question of time. Of course, we need him. And yes, he was good [against Liverpool]. On Thursday he finished good.”
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
