Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will back Pep Guardiola with the funds to sign a top midfielder next summer.
Guardiola has extended his stay at the Etihad Stadium, penning a new deal until 2025. His current contract had been due to expire at the end of this season.
In a cunning new battleplan, City bosses are now prepared to inject Guardiola’s squad with fresh talent to maintain the club’s stronghold on the Premier League.
According to the Daily Mail, Man City are expected to back Pep Guardiola in the transfer market next summer, with finance available to purchase a midfielder.
A new midfielder is seen as being key to staving off domestic competition from Liverpool and Arsenal, while improving City’s Champions League hopes.
Jude Bellingham is among those being monitored, although Man City remain wary of the pulling power of Real Madrid and Liverpool.
The Borussia Dortmund sensation will be targeted next summer. City believe they can enter the hotly-contested race to sign the 19-year-old at the end of the season.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“Another midfielder. Are we allergic to wingers?”

“Look at current players. Gundogan going, Silva going, Mahrez probably going and Walker only another season. We don’t need wingers unless Pep changes his style of play. Whether that’s from youth or Jude coming in, we need midfielders, and another RB.”

“Why do we need more midfielders? We have foden, KDB, Rodri,Philips, Bernardo if he stays and Grealish. What we don’t have is pace on the wings. Something that made us unpredictable when we had Sane and Sterling. We need to go back to that. Too many midfielders is too predictable”
