‘He’s bang on with this’, ‘100% facts’ – Man City fans react to Bernardo Silva’s ‘salty’ post-match interview after Liverpool defeat

Bernardo was also not happy with referee Anthony Taylor and did not hold back when interviewed.

The Portugal international has a bit of history with Liverpool supporters, stemming from him failing to give them a proper guard of honour when they won the Premier League in 2020.

He ended up branded them “pathetic” and told them to “read a book” on Twitter after City were knocked out of the Champions League by Lyon shortly afterwards.

So when he came across as a little salty on Sky Sports, one Reds supporter added the hilarious crying filter and it has amassed 839,000 views.

In the interview, Silva bemoaned the lack of consistency from the referee, who he said “cannot change just because there is a goal”.

“What we expect from the referees is consistency in the decisions,” Silva explained.

“When you go through a path of not whistling little contacts throughout the whole game you need to keep those decisions and keep going that way. If you want to whistle all of them, whistle all of them.

“If from the beginning of the game you’re not whistling little fouls, and we saw it in this game that he was letting us play – which is good, which is fine – then if there is a goal you cannot whistle a soft one.

“If you want consistency from the referee you cannot change just because there is a goal. Just because it’s a tough decision you have to make the tough decision and keep the goal.”

These Bernardo’s comments shared on twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

“It really shouldn’t have been ruled out, ref should have stopped the game then when they saw the contact, not until after we scored.”

“He’s bang on with this. The ref was letting some much go but then goes to watch the replay in slow motion. Very soft but let’s just hope we don’t see Klopp moaning about a decision like this when the roles are reversed.”

“Nobody ever gets a fair shake from the refs when they travel to Anfield. Never.”

“I saw Liverpool fans complaining about a referee from Manchester officiating the game as if Anthony Taylor hasn’t given decisions in their favor before 😂 We lost because we made mistakes, no denying that. But Bernardo has a good point too.”

“In short, ‘If you start with violence, maintain the energy. If you start soft, keep up the energy.’”

“THIS is exactly the issue with VAR reviewing a potential foul in the build up to a goal. If the ref has let teams play physically the whole game why go back and review it.”
