Jurgen Klopp dismissed comparisons between Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City this weekend.
Nunez joined the Reds from Benfica last summer, but he’s struggled to find consistency in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has scored two goals in the league, with his strike in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal his first since the opening day.
It’s been a completely different story for new City man Erling Haaland. He’s scored 15 goals since arriving from Borussia Dortmund, only eight off last season’s Golden Boot winning tally.
And Klopp made a bit of a swiping comment to his players when asked about the Uruguayan and his stuttering start to life as a Liverpool player.
“Let me say it like this, I think Darwin Nunez would have scored a couple more goals if he had played in the centre of Man City this season,” the German said in his pre-match press conference.
These Klopp’s comments shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

Not really. No disrespect to Gabby but he couldn’t do what haaland is doing even though he was surrounded by the same players. I think it’s also depends on the mentality and abilities of a striker.
