Manchester City have reportedly been provided with the chance to sign Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo as the club look at options away from Brighton’s Marc Cucurella.
The Premier League champions have already brought in four fresh faces this summer, including Kalvin Phillips and Erling Braut Haaland from Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko on his way to Arsenal, Manchester City will be in the market for another left-back this summer.
Manchester City and Guardiola have reportedly identified Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella’s as their preferred replacement.
As it stands, though, it appears that City have little intention of meeting Brighton’s asking price, said to be in the region of £50m.
According to iNews, City are one of several Premier League clubs that the 26-year-old has been offered to and a deal could be done for as little as £15m.
As Pep Guardiola’s side struggle to make headway with a deal for Cucurella due to a £50m price tag, a move for Grimaldo could be a much more economical piece of business.
The Spaniard has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Estadio da Luz and is allegedly available for transfer over the coming weeks.
