‘Enough of this’ – Man City fans react as report claims Haaland have been put on individual training programme

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Erling Haaland has been put on an individual training programme to make sure he is fit for his Premier League game of the season away to West Ham.

The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund sat out of the 2-1 win in Houston, Texas as Kevin De Bruyne scored twice for the Premier League champions.

Other new arrivals Julian Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega all featured, so fans may have been worried as to why Haaland did not get on the field in the States.

Despite being named on the bench, Haaland didn’t even warm up ahead of the 2-1 win. He was briefly shown on the big screen at the NRG Stadium wearing a City tracksuit rather than his match kit, which confirmed that Pep Guardiola never intended to give him any game time.

Guardiola after the game revealed that he was not quite ready to make an appearance for his new team, but he will be when City take on Bayern Munich in their next friendly at the weekend.

Haaland missed 16 games through injury for Borussia Dortmund last season. The injuries were all muscle related, with the longest run of games being seven for a hip flexor issue.

Manchester City are cautious not to let any of the injuries that plagued him last season resurface ahead of the new campaign.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Ben Ransom, Erling Haaland has been put on an individual training programme to make sure he is fit for Man City’s first premier league game of the season away to West Ham.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“No one can say really, it could be the City medical team not rushing it or them being on dangerously high levels of hopium that Haaland might start the first PL game. I think its the former.”

“Well, it’s what it’s, I guess. I want to see Haaland against Bayern, but if he can be fit 200% for the PL, then I think it’s okay to rest him. After all, Dortmund wearing their player out is not a secret anymore.”

“They’re are just being careful with him. He’s been training this past week. No need to rush him in and lose him long term when it matters..”

“My guess is that he’ll get a few minutes against Bayern, then play a bigger chunk of the Community Shield and then get a full start at West Ham.”
