Manchester City may soon add another Ballon d’Or winner to the Premier League’s list, following in the footsteps of their rival Manchester United, who produced Cristiano Ronaldo several years ago.

The leading forward of Man City, Erling Haaland, missed out during the recent awards ceremony. Despite securing a treble and shattering numerous goal-scoring records in his debut season in the English Premier League, the Norwegian fell short to Lionel Messi in the final ranking.

Meanwhile, the reigning Premier League champions could add another potential Ballon d’Or winner to the team following the report that they have shown interest in Bayern Munich sensation midfield, Jamal Musiala.

It has been reported that Manchester City have exhibited considerable interest in securing his services, though Bayern Munich appear unwilling to part with him under any circumstances.

Rio Ferdinand Says Musiala Is Potential Ballon d’Or Winner

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for the Germany international last month after Bayern Munich defeated Lazio 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

Musiala was a standout player during the comfortable victory and Ferdinand is of the opinion that if he maintains such an extraordinary level of performance, he has the potential to become one of the top players in the world.

Ferdinand added via Metro: “He’s a fantastic footballer. I think the highest compliment I can give him is that I don’t know where his ceiling is. Most players even at 20/22 years old, you go ‘I think they are going to get to this level and that’s them.’

“This guy has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or. I’ve said it before, he has the potential to do that if the path goes the right way for him, and he’s in a successful team. That’s the platform and foundation for that.”

Manchester City Players Among Potential Ballon d’Or Winner

Some Manchester City players have also been described as contenders for the next Ballon d’Or award. While Erling Haaland, who represented the club last year, did not perform at his best this campaign, Phil Foden and Rodri are having an incredible season which puts them in the Ballon d’Or discussion.

Foden is undoubtedly enjoying the best season of his career as a senior football player. He has on different occasions shown that he has the talent to be the best player. This season, he has over 30 goal contributions for the Cityzens across all competitions and has emerged as a potential Premier League player of the season.

Similarly, Rodri has become arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world. His contributions to both Manchester City and the Spanish national team have earned him praise among football pundits.
