Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona have formally contacted the club officials this morning regarding a move for Bernardo Silva.

The 27-year-old’s long-term future at Manchester City is believed to be uncertain, having previously expressed his desire to seek pastures new.

The midfielder still has three years left to run on his current contract in Manchester, where he has gone on to make 251 appearances for the club across all competitions since making the £43.6m move from Monaco back in July 2017.

Of late, there have been a lot of speculations linking Barcelona with a move for the Portugal midfielder, with reports suggesting Xavi has met with Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Silva is already aware of Barca’s interest in him through his agent Jorge Mendes and they have given the green light to City to negotiate a deal if Barca put an offer on the table.

There are currently no bad feelings between City and Silva, and the cordial manner in which Ferran Torres was allowed to leave the Premier uh League champions for Barca at the turn of the year came as part of a common transfer policy in not standing in players’ ways if they express a desire to leave.

According to Zeeshanxz a user on Twitter who is a regular to post City news and has proved to have a reliable track record recently, Xavi’s side have formally contacted Manchester City officials this morning regarding a move for Bernardo Silva.

Zeeshan claims Man City will not block a move for the Portugal midfielder, value him at £70m and will allow flexibility around payment terms.

The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“If true then City is a very easy club to just get players on a cheap. Try getting Bernardo from Dortmund at his age and quality with the number of years left on his contract..150 starting price if it were shrewd Dortmund.”

“£70m such disrespect. Man City should take us serious, we want £100m for him to make a move.”

“He’s 27, has 3 years left on his contract and is one of the best midfielders in the world. I don’t want him to go, but if he does, £70m is no where near enough. Minimum £90m. Don’t bend over for them .”

“This would be a disaster and FYI £70M for Bernardo is giving him away. Would create a huge hole in our squad.”

“Genuinely, if they sell him for 70m when he’s worth 100, i don’t care if we signed Haaland, it’s a f**king disaster”
