Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays an update by Fabrizio Romano on the future of Riyad Mahrez.
The 31-year-old has been one of the most enigmatic attackers in the Premier League over the past half a dozen years. He has been in ‘sparkling’ form this season and was Man City’s leading goalscorer with 23 goals and nine assists in 43 matches in all competitions.
However, with less than 18 months left on the Algerian’s existing deal, reports have claimed that a number of elite European clubs are monitoring Mahrez’s contract situation in Manchester ahead of a potential departure in the summer.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a departure for Riyad Mahrez should not be anticipated ‘any time soon’.
The renowned transfer expert goes on to reveal that Manchester City officials have not to have received any ‘official proposals’ aimed towards prising away the Algerian international from the blue side of Manchester just yet.
It has also been mentioned that the Manchester City’s number 26 is personally ‘calm’ about the uncertainty around his personal situation at the club at this present moment.
Romano states that as things stand, Manchester City have planned to ‘speak’ to the former Leicester forward ‘in the coming weeks’ to assess his contractual situation.
In reaction to the reports shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

“2 year Extension would be incredible. Game isn’t based on pace/power so he will remain effective even as he ages, Never gets hurt, generally produces magical moments when playing, and we need experience in the team..”
