Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have identified Brighton’s Marc Cucurella as a potential transfer target this summer.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a superb first campaign in English football, making 36 appearances in all competitions for Albion and picking up the player of the season and players’ player of the season at the club’s awards dinner this week.
The 23-year-old has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances, which has led to speculation linking him Man City in the upcoming transfer window. Pep Guardiola’s side are on the lookout for a new left-sided full-back, with Benjamin Mendy’s career at the club all but over.
Pep Guardiola has been using Joao Cancelo as his preferred option in the position, and the Portuguese international has excelled as well. However, he is naturally a right-back, while backup option Oleksandr Zinchenko’s future has been called into action due to his reduced minutes.
Nathan Ake is another player who is capable of slotting in at left-back. But the Dutchman would not provide the same level of tactical flexibility and attacking intent that someone like Cancelo does.
According to Daily Mail, Manchester City have targeted Brighton left-back, Marc Cucurella to fill their problem in the position and will make a £30M move this summer.
The report states that Pep Guardiola wants a more orthodox left back to provide balance and Marc Cucurella’s age and versatility has convinced the Man City manager to move for him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
