Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on twitter which relays a report that claims Real Madrid and Barcelona have both reportedly stepped up their interest in Raheem Sterling ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was again a regular for the Citizens during the 2021-22 campaign, making 47 appearances in all competitions, contributing 17 goals and nine assists in the process.
Sterling only featured from the first whistle in five Champions League matches during the recent campaign, though, and he did not start either of his side’s last two Premier League games of the season against West Ham United and Aston Villa despite their importance.
The England international only has little over 12 months left to run on his contract at Etihad Stadium, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.
He is yet to make a decision on his future and has postponed it until after England’s UEFA Nations League fixtures coming up.
However, according to the Daily Mail, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are considering making offers to sign him during this summer’s transfer window.
As per the report, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as Chelsea are also believed to be showing an interest in the former Queens Park Rangers youngster, with Man City seemingly facing a battle to keep hold of him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Honestly let him go, it’s clear he doesn’t want to be here and keeping him wouldn’t benefit anybody, this is the perfect time to sell him as there’s tons of suitable replacements on the market right now.”

“The fact that the biggest clubs in Europe want him should tell you everything. Sterling’s performance only dropped when we didn’t have an elite Striker. He’s always been a better playmaker than output merchant imo. Haaland is gonna release him differently. Keep him at all costs”
