Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have identified their two top transfer targets to come in next after securing the signing of Erling Haaland early on this summer.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said that the Premier League champions will sign two more players this summer in the wake of landing Europe’s most coveted striker, Erling Haaland.
The City board secured the signing of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this month and he will be joined by Julián Álvarez, from River Plate. “I can confirm that there will be more players coming in,” Al Mubarak said. “We are looking to strengthen in the areas we need strengthening. “I anticipate we will be doing a couple more.
Although Al Mubarak did not mention them, City’s top two targets are believed to be a midfielder and a left-back, which now is seemingly high up on their agenda.
According to the Times Sport, Brighton’s 23-year-old Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella and Leeds’ England midfielder Kalvin Phillips, 26, are both in City’s sights.
City would do well to land these proven Premier League talents, with Phillips also shining on the international stage with England and now surely too good to carry on at Elland Road for much longer.
Cucurella, meanwhile, has proven a superb signing for Brighton, and it makes sense that they might now struggle to keep hold of him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“very good targets. think cucurella will be done very soon, phillips seems a bit harder but only really in the same way grealish seemed near impossible..”

“Perfect mindset from our recruitment team.
Signing players from possession based teams in the prem would mean that they are already adapted to the league and the way we play, especially with them being 2nd choice and going to have less playing time than the regular starters.”

“Genuinely not sure about Cucurella but I trust the scouting team. Brighton play a somewhat similar style of football so he should be able to adapt quickly. Phillips would be the perfect Fernandinho replacement and we would be able to rest Rodri with comfort.”
