Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Juventus have reignited their interest Aymeric Laporte.
Veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini has confirmed his departure after 17 years at the club, with a move to MLS imminent, and the Bianconeri are seeking a high-level alternative as they aim for a first Scudetto in three years next term.
According to Corriere dello Sport as relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte is on the Serie A side’s list of options to reinforce their defence as they search for a replacement for Chiellini.
Whilst any deal for Laporte would be extremely expensive, the Spain international is reportedly ‘not considered non-transferable’ by Manchester City after Ruben Dias and John Stones established themselves as the first choice centre-back pairing en route to a Premier League title win.
There is no mention of them starting any contacts or anything of that nature as yet for the 28-year-old defender, who has made 155 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, lifting the Premier League four times in addition to the FA Cup.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“Sell Laporte then rely on who in defense? Dias alone? Because Stones can’t stay fit. Our defense would be a joke again.”
