Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Erling Haaland‘s camp have asked about Pep Guardiola‘s future at the Etihad.
The Citizens are believed to be leading the race for the 21-year-old’s signature, while La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on his situation.
After weeks of speculation regarding his future and where his next destination could be, several reports recently are now pointing towards Manchester City being the successful suitor.
Although reports that a deal has been agreed are premature as things stand, a new development from a high-ranking source in the latter has provided new information – with one key point made.
“There was a question put from the Haaland camp to Manchester City, ‘What about Pep Guardiola’s future?'” Balague began.
“And the answer that came back was that he will think about staying longer – his contract runs out in 2023. City are hoping to convince him to stay another year at least.”
The Spaniard is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 and could extend that, but expects to work elsewhere at some point in the future.
Since his appointment in 2016, the 51 year-old former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has extended his stay with the reigning Premier League Champions on two occasions, firstly in 2018 and again in 2020.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“I knew it would come to this on Erling’s decision.. to be fair I would ask the same question if I was Erling too.”
