Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays an update on Riyad Mahrez’s contract situation at the Etihad.
The 30-year-old Algeria star is enjoying his best campaign for Man City and is their leading goalscorer this season with eighteen goals in thirty matches in all competitions.
Mahrez’s current contract expires in 16 months and Manchester City face a dilemma over handing him new terms or letting him leave him
According to Graeme Bailey via 90min Football, Riyad Mahrez has shown nothing but enthusiasm to commit his long-term future to Man City, and the expectation is that he will renew his contract before the end of the season.
It has been reported that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made his desire of keeping hold of Mahrez clear to the club’s hierarchy, after he played significant parts in the Sky Blues’ success in recent campaigns.
However, it is worth noting that should he refuse to renew his current deals before the end of the season, Manchester City are expected to sanction a sale, as it is highly unlikely that the club will allow him to leave on a free when his contracts expire in 2023.
In reaction to the reports shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

That’s great news. I hope it will be done before the end of the season. Give him 2 or 3 more years!
