Erling Haaland, who is set to be the subject of a major transfer battle in the summer window, has set out his transfer conditions to suitors including Manchester City.
The Norwegian marksman has been widely tipped to seek a new challenge elsewhere ahead of next season, with Manchester City joining a whole host of top clubs with a shared interest in securing his signature.
Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Norwegian goal machine is reportedly next Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.
City may well have signed the very promising Julian Alvarez on deadline day of the January transfer window, but that deal has far from satisfied the Blues’ appetite for a new elite striker.
Haaland, who remains under contract with the Black and Yellow until 2024, has already netted 23 goals in 20 appearances for Dortmund this term despite injury concerns.
Such remarkable progress in Germany has invariably put the Norwegian goal machine on the radars of many European football clubs, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid among his suitors.
According to AS, Haaland has formed a ‘close bond’ with former Swansea City and Rayo Vallecano star Michu.
And the Spaniard has now revealed that Haaland has laid out his conditions for his next club to him following a conversation.
“I was with Haaland and I had a conversation with him. I don’t think he’s going to continue at Dortmund,” Michu told Cadena SER.
“Haaland is looking for a very strong team that can compete in the Champions League. He’s looking for a competitive team.”
Michu also made it clear that Haaland is seeking a long-term project, with the financial offers less of a priority.
“He gave me the feeling that he’s looking for a long-term sporting project and he told me he likes Spain,” the former Swansea star added.
“He’s thinking more about a sporting project than from an economic perspective.
“If [Kylian] Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, I think Barcelona would be a very good option. And in these times, Haaland is cheap.”
