‘That confirms it’, ‘he’s coming’ – Man City fans react as Guardiola breaks silence on links with Julian Alvarez

Pep Guardiola has refused to comment on Manchester City‘s pursuit of River Plate striker Julian Alvarez.

After months of speculation linking the Sky Blues with potential moves for the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Dusan Vlahovic as they search for a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero, a flurry of reports emerging on Thursday have mentioned that Manchester City are nearing a move for River Plate star Julian Alvarez.

It is believed that City have submitted a bid for the 21-year-old who has taken Argentine football by storm this season.

The youngster who plays on the wing or as a striker for River Plate is believed to have a £16.75m release clause but, according to reports in Argentina, his current club would like to keep him until the summer.

Pep Guardiola is thought to not see Alvarez as a first-team starter straight away at the Etihad and that he would be willing to send him out on loan to a European side so that he can gain experience.

Despite all the reports, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola remained tight-lipped when asked about the Argentine forward on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Southampton in the Premier League, the Catalan said, “I don’t have any info about the club, anything. Not one word. I don’t know anything. I don’t have any info about the club…”

These Guardiola’s comments on links with Julian Alvarez were shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters.
