Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a reports by Fabrizio Romano confirming Joao Cancelo is set to undergo contract talks with the club in 2022.
Cancelo has been in incredible form of late and despite the fact his current contract runs until June 2025, City look keen to reward him for his fine form and seek a further commitment from him.
His performance against Newcastle in Manchester City’s 4-0 victory on Sunday was yet another reminder as to why the former Benfica star is one of the best full-backs in Europe at present.
With Cancelo still just 27 and arguably the best full-back in world football right now, he could be in line for a hefty pay increase, in the hope that he continues to excel in sky blue.
The Daily Star this week reported that Joao Cancelo is in line for a whopping pay rise next summer, that would see him earn £250,000-a-week – rising from his current £150,000-a-week wages.
As per Fabrizio Romano on the latest episode of his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, the Premier League champions are set to open negotiations with Joao Cancelo over a fresh five-year contract in 2022.
The speculation around the Portugal International committing his long-term future at the club has led to an overwhelmingly positive reaction from Man City fans online.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
