‘We’ll take £80m… just want to get him out of here’ – Spurs chief Levy urged to phone Pep Guardiola and strike Harry Kane deal in January

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor urge Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to phone Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to try and arrange a January deal for Harry Kane.

City did all they could to land Kane but Tottenham refused to negotiate, and with no suitable alternative they decided to go into the season with Jack Grealish as their only senior addition.

Levy stood firm on his £150million valuation and it might have been too much to ask of City who had spent £100million on Jack Grealish during that time.

Since the summer, Kane has only scored one Premier League goal in nine appearances, looking out of sorts in the process.

With rumours around the England captain’s future showing no sign of going away, and following their 3-0 loss to Manchester United yesterday, Agbonlahor thinks Spurs should look to sell Kane in the January transfer window.

“If I was Pep Guardiola, if I was Daniel Levy, if I was the Man City owners, I’d be negotiating now for £100million in January,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“If I’m Daniel Levy I’m phoning Pep and saying ‘I’m negotiating now, the £150million doesn’t matter and we will take £80million, £90million or £100million. We just want to get him out of here’.

“He’s not interested. He doesn’t want to be at the club, he’s not working for the team.

“Of course you drop him. When Harry Kane was injured last season and season before, Son was playing his best football.

“He looks like a player trapped and is sulking, not interested. When the Spurs fans can boo one of their best ever players, you know something is wrong.

“Nuno Espirito Santo has got to put him on the bench, he’s not interested.”

“It starts with Harry Kane. How many times did they get crosses in today and Kane stood on his toes, standing there,” Agbonlahor added.

“The best strikers in the world would go an attack. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got three centre-backs in there, the best centre forwards in the world will make the right runs and attack.

“Harry Kane was out there playing like ‘I don’t want to be here, I’m not interested’ and that is a club who has given you everything. A club you are meant to love.

“The fans love Harry Kane, but his legacy isn’t going to be the same now the way he’s treating these fans.”
