Former top-flight manager Tim Sherwood has pointed out an area for improvement for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Despite scoring four goals in a recent match against Wolves, Sherwood believes that Haaland can work on his heading ability. He specifically pointed out a pass from Rodri that Haaland could have guided into the corner with more pace, highlighting the striker’s need to improve on getting in front of defenders to win headers.
Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has been prolific in front of goal, scoring 88 times in 94 appearances across all competitions. However, criticisms have been made about his overall play, with Roy Keane likening him to a League Two player. With a passing accuracy rate of 75.5%, one of the lowest in the City squad, and Sherwood’s suggestion regarding headers, there are areas where Haaland can still improve.
Despite the criticisms, Haaland has continued to score goals on a consistent basis for Manchester City. Manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that there is always room for improvement for Haaland and his teammates. As long as he continues to work hard in training and maintain his goal-scoring form, it is likely that other aspects of his game, including his heading ability, will improve over time.
