Manchester City are unwilling to allow Bernardo Silva to depart the club in the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports.
During the summer transfer window, the Portugal international informed the club of his desire to leave and the club was open to the prospect of allowing Silva to leave.
The deadline passed with the versatile attacker still in Manchester, though, and has arguably been one of the club’s strongest performers so far this season.
The Portuguese star has turned his City career around within the last few months. In City’s last few outings, he seems to have found his best form and is quickly becoming a crucial player for Guardiola once more.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Manchester City have stamped their stance on the future of Bernardo Silva and are unwilling to let the midfielder depart the club in the January transfer window.
The report reads that Pep Guardiola is delighted with his performances and wants him to stay at the Etihad despite claiming in August that Bernardo was one of the players who wanted to leave City in the close season.
Konur claims the Premier League champions plan to reject any transfer offers for the Portuguese attacker in January – with previous reports suggesting that the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona may be interested.
And with Silva enjoying his football, they could be forced to look at other options despite seemingly already making contact with City for the midfielder.
When he’s at his best, Silva is simply a joy to watch and it seems remarkable that there were rumours of City being willing to offload him in the summer.
