John Stones and Aymeric Laporte have travelled to London with the rest of the Manchester City squad this afternoon, which has got many fans excited.
After a disappointing 0-0 draw with Southampton last weekend, the Blues will want to bounce back with a massive win against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in Saturday’s early kick-off.
The defensive pair missed the Champions League win over RB Leipzig with muscle injuries they initially picked up whilst on international duty.
Aymeric Laporte has had a great start to the season and has formed a solid partnership with Ruben Dias at the heart of the Sky Blues’ backline this term, much like John Stones did during 2020/21.
John Stones has yet to feature for Manchester City this term, despite being an essential part of last season’s Premier League-winning campaign.
With a clash against fellow title challengers Chelsea on the horizon, Pep Guardiola will be encouraged that Stones and Laporte are back in training.
The Man City manager in his press conference on Friday reiterated that he has a ‘few’ injury concerns, but they will be fully assessed later today. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Catalan said:
“We still have a few [injuries]. Some come back a little bit training, tomorrow we decide if they’re ready to play or not. Not all of them [are in contention], some come back, we will see how they react to training and tomorrow we will see.”
According to Simon Bajkowski for Manchester Evening News, John Stones, Laporte, Rodrigo – who were spotted in full training just yesterday, have all travelled with the Man City squad to London this afternoon.
Other Manchester City players spotted travelling to London are Ederson, Steffen; Walker, Dias, Ake, Joao Cancelo, Fernandinho, Lavia, Rodri, KDB, Grealish, Foden, Palmer, Bernardo, Jesus, Sterling, Mahrez, Torres.
