Manchester City are rumoured to be plotting a mega-money move for Paris Saint-Germain superstar and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.

The World Cup-winner, who have been linked with a move to Manchester City in the past has attracted interest from across Europe, with Real Madrid speculated to be one of the frontrunners for his signature – should the forward choose to depart PSG.

Mbappe’s current deal with the Paris-based club expires in the summer of 2022 – with mass speculation over a move elswhere.

According to the Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles speaking on the latest edition of the Transfer Window podcast as relayed by City Xtra, Sheikh Mansour, the owner of the reigning Premier League champions, has issued a ‘mandate’ to make prolific Mbappe the club’s newest striker ‘at any cost’.

Raheem Sterling was identified as the most likely candidate to call time on his City career to fund a move for the Frenchman but Pep Guardiola has quashed any talk of Mbappe’s arrival.

” Manchester City aren’t going to spend the money that Mbappé deserves, or that PSG deserves. PSG are not going to sell this kind of player to any other club in the world in the next years, I guess.

“That is not going to happen, Mbappé is not going to come here, we are not going to swap Raheem or another top player that we have.”

Guardiola went on to ask for more respect from the media when it comes to transfer speculation, claiming: “I don’t understand where sometimes the news comes from, I don’t understand it.

“People should be more respectful of PSG, respectful of Manchester City, for the players from PSG, for the players from Man City, they should have more respect.

“Of course I am the second person to know exactly which players are targets, which players I want to sell or something like that. But it is what it is.”
