Manchester City are keeping an eye on  Lille defender Sven Botman, after an impressive season with the newly crowned Ligue 1 champions

The 21-year-old defender has impressed with his performances for Lille and is a target for a host of other Premier League sides such as, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle and West ham.

The Blues are pushing to sign targets as they aim to reinforce their squad in a bid to retain the Premier League title and win their first Champions League trophy.

The premier league champions continue to be linked with a sensational double swoop for Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

While there are several areas of the field where City could upgrade in, one area that you will not expect Pep Guardiola’s side to consider signing this summer is a center-back as they already have viable defenders at their disposal.

With the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte, City already have an embarrassment of riches in that area.

But according to the latest report from French daily L’Equipe, as relayed by the Daily Mail, Man City have entered the race for Lille’s Sven Botman after being made aware of his availability in the current market.

The newly crowned Ligue 1 champions will reportedly demand €50m (£42.7m) for the centre back’s services, who was ever-present in the Lille side, making 47 appearances in all competitions.

Lille are keen to keep a hold of the 21-year-old for the upcoming Ligue 1 season, but they have a history of selling players on for a profit, with the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes being sold for big money moves.

But he could be on the move yet again this summer, just a year after signing a five-year deal from Ajax.
