Manchester City fans were impressed with John Stones’ performance in the 3-0 victory at Fulham on Saturday to moved 17 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
The 26-year-old, whose future at the Etihad was a topic of speculation last season, has been in exceptional form this term and he has formed a solid partnership alongside Ruben Dias at the heart of the defence.
The Cottagers, who defeated Liverpool last weekend, held their own during the first half but were three down by the hour mark after a disastrous start to the second period.
John Stones was left unmarked to score from close range in the 47th minute and Gabriel Jesus then capitalised on some comical defending to make it 2-0.
Aguero then converted his penalty to make the points safe and from then on it was damage limitation for Fulham.
It’s really no secret that City were a long way from their scintillating best in the first half, but Stones’ goal just after the break was crucial in turning the match in City’s favour. He Continued his rich goalscoring form netting four goals in the current league campaign so far.
Stones managed to keep the Cottagers at bay throughout the game and continued to looked confident on the ball and pushed forward from the back on every given occasion, almost operating as a right-back at times.
Many City fans after the match took to Twitter to hail Stones’ sublime performance against Villa.

always backed John Stones but genuinely believed start of this season his time at City was up, was well out of favour & his form when he did play wasn't great.. but since coming back into the side he's become the player we all knew he had the potential to be.. absolute quality.

Game over, great to see Sergio back, fairplay to Fulham they gave it a good go but we were too good in the end. Cancelo excellent again, Stones has been different class again, happy days, on we go. #MCFC
