Manchester City handed major boost in keeping Sergio Aguero after reports from Spain claimed Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman would rather sign Memphis Depay instead.
Both players will be out of contract at their respective clubs this summer, and Barca have been strongly linked with the pair ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
The Argentine superstar’s future has been the subject of speculation recently, with Inter Milan, Barcelona and PSG reportedly interested in signing the striker.
A recent report from TyC Sports claimed that Barcelona have already presented a ‘formal offer’ for the City legend as part of their continued search to find a solution to retain Lionel Messi’s services at the Camp Nou.
According to Sport, Koeman wants the La Liga giants to move for the Lyon attacker as he feels that the Netherlands international would suit the team’s current needs more than Man City’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Pep Guardiola has said he is unlikely to consider Sergio Agüero’s long-term Manchester City future until the international break this month.
The Argentinian came off the bench on wednesday night as City saw off Southampton at The Etihad.
