Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report to yet another update of the club’s interest in Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens.
TuttoMercato earlier this week reported that City have identified the left back as a possible successor of Zinchenko, With claims from journalist Marco Conterio of TuttoMercatoWeb that the Premier League leaders ‘have been following’ him for ‘some time’.
It’s clear City need a new left back with Benjamin Mendy failing to push his game on, due to recurrent injuries coupled with poor form that is starting to turn into a liability for Pep Guardiola.
The use of Zinchenko and the recent form of Joao Cancelo may have provided yet another short-term solution, but a competent true left-back is needed at the club.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Here We Go’ Podcast, Gosens is ‘appreciated’ by Manchester City, but that the Serie A club have not received an offer.
He adds if the Cityzens were to put in an offer this summer for the German left-back, Atalanta would require a fee in the range of €45-€50 million for Gosens.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Many man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
He’s decent but not 45~50 mil good. Defo not paying that for a german Angelino

One year left on his deal. That’s kinda a lot I think

He’s a very good player, but will not fit our system. He would fit a system of 5 at the back, just like Angelino. Also 40M for a player with 1 year left on his contract is a bit too much

Would Gosens be a good signing?
Robin Gosens could be the ideal successor to Benjamin Mendy. He would be a more natural option in that position than both Cancelo and Zinchenko.
City sporting director Txiki Begiristain should definitely look at bringing him to the Etihad this summer, as he could be a superb addition to Guardiola’s side and an excellent replacement for Mendy.
