Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a reports that claims the club is finally looking to sign a left-back in the summer.
The full-back spot in particular remains an issue throughout Pep Guardiola’s time at the club, with Benjamin Mendy failing to push his game on.
The French international has had his fair share of troubles with recurrent injuries coupled with poor form and is starting to turn into a liability for Pep Guardiola.
In searching for the best solution, Pep Guardiola has used Fernandinho, Danilo, Fabian Delph, Angelino, Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, Oleksandr Zinchenko and João Cancelo.
All the options use have failed to establish their place in the side, lacking the reliability and consistency needed to play in a system that relies heavily on full-backs.
Th the use of Zinchenko and the recent form of Joao Cancelo may have provided yet another short-term solution, but a competent true left-back is needed at the club.
According to Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, the Cityzens want to sign a left-back next summer, and are looking at different options.
At the moment, there is no favourite option, but the club will decide in the coming months.
Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico, Everton’s Lucas Digne, an out of contract David Alaba and even Angers’ left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri have all been rumoured with a move to the Etihad.

If we manage to win the UCL with Zinny at LB, don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be our first choice LB for years to come. In that case, might buy a young promising LB as a backup

We keep saying this but we have just won at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Anfield with him having good games in all 3. We have won 84% of the 50 games he has played in the PL, including 22 in a row. His return to the side has coincided with our upturn in form.
