Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club is keen to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba in January.
City has been long linked with the Bayern Munich defender who has entered the final season of his contract at the German club. The Citizens have now received a boost in their pursuit of Alaba.
The the 28-year-old defender has decided to leave Bavaria after failing to agree on a new contract. While there is understandably plenty of interest in the versatile defender.
According to AS, Manchester City and United have both instigated discussions with Alaba’s agent Pini Zahavi.
The report adds that European football gianst Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG are all also keen on the player’s signature.
Alaba is free to talk to clubs from Jan. 1 and Bayern’s chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has accepted the notion that the defender will leave.
Valued at £58m via Transfermarkt, the Australian International has made over 400 appearances for Bayern, scoring 32 goals and supplying 49 assists in all competitions, while he has won the Champions League twice, the Bundesliga nine times and six German League Cups.
As a versatile player who can play in a variety of positions, Alaba would add dynamism to the Citizens backline that has benefitted immensely from summer additions.
It would be an interesting signing given the resurgence of Stones and Dias immediate impact.
